Vancouver Island Series I

This is the first of three series I've made inspired by a walk on the beach at Lantzville, BC last summer. I have always been fascinated by the honeycomb rock patterns in the large, flat rocks that flank the beach. I took numerous photos to use as reference back in the studio. This edition marks a return for me to stone lithography which was my first introduction to printmaking many years ago. I have varied the edition by using different papers, a black ink (no 1-3) and indigo ink (no 4-5), painting in watercolour on some of the prints (no 6-8) and using chin colle, a method of adhering fine Japanese washi paper to the surface (no 9-10).
